Oakwater is built upon more than three decades of practical experience in property and construction.

That journey began with a formal grounding as a qualified carpenter — learning the value of craftsmanship, accuracy, materials and the importance of understanding how buildings are actually put together. Those early years established a practical foundation that has remained central ever since.

From there, experience broadened across construction, renovation, development and increasingly ambitious property projects. Working from the ground up created an understanding not only of how to build, but how to assess opportunity, solve problems, manage complexity and turn an idea into something tangible.

That practical knowledge continues to shape the Oakwater approach today — informed by experience, grounded in reality and focused on what it genuinely takes to deliver well.

EXPERIENCE

As experience grew, so did the scale and ambition of the projects undertaken.

Through Oakshire Homes, that practical construction background developed into property improvement, bespoke new homes, land-led opportunities and increasingly ambitious development projects — each adding a broader understanding of value, potential and the importance of seeing beyond what is immediately obvious.

Alongside this came a growing interest in the relationship between buildings, land and landscape. Projects were no longer viewed simply as structures to be delivered, but as places to be shaped — with attention to setting, access, character, long-term use and the way each element contributes to the whole.

That evolution marked an important shift: from building individual projects to recognising and unlocking the wider potential of property, land and place.

EVOLUTION

Running alongside the construction and property journey was a long-standing interest in fish, fisheries and water-filled landscapes — an interest that steadily developed into a genuine passion.

That passion ultimately led to the creation and development of Oakfield Fishery during my ownership, transforming land and water into an established destination. It provided first-hand experience of lake creation and management, habitat, ecology, landscape, access, presentation and the long-term stewardship required to improve a place over time.

More importantly, it reinforced an understanding that land and water are not simply features within a property — they can define its character, enhance its value and completely alter the way a place is experienced.

That perspective remains an important part of Oakwater today: recognising the potential within landscape, water and setting, and understanding how those elements can be developed with purpose, sensitivity and longevity.

LAND & WATER

Oakwater brings those experiences together.

Decades of practical construction knowledge, property development, land-led opportunity, fisheries, landscape and stewardship now form the foundation of a broader advisory approach — one built around judgement, perspective and the ability to recognise potential that may not be immediately obvious.

Rather than looking at buildings, land or water in isolation, Oakwater considers the wider picture: how a place works, what it could become, where value can be created and what will genuinely be required to realise that potential.

It is the natural culmination of that journey — combining practical experience with strategic thinking to help shape distinctive properties, landscapes and opportunities with clarity, purpose and long-term value.

The approach is deliberately personal and independent: consider the whole picture, challenge convention where appropriate, and pursue only those opportunities capable of creating something genuinely worthwhile.
